My Day at UTS

Today was...awesome. Except for the horrible internet here still.

I had to get up early to make it in time for my 1pm class at UTS in Lindfield, a ways outside of Sydney. I left about 10am actually. Walked to the train station, got on and went to Central, near the city campus for UTS is. I got there at about 11. I had to wait for the 11:32 shuttle to Lindfield and UTS's other campus. I found out where it picked up people and waited. It came and it was a super nice shuttle! Seats 24 and it was like an RV but with a ton of seats. It took about 35 minutes to actually get there. I oriented myself in the new UTS campus that I'd never been to. I found out where my class was even though I had about an hour before it started. I went to the computer lab because I couldn't connect with my laptop for some reason, and I enjoyed the working internet until class started.

My teacher is nice, the class is about 8 people and only 2 guys. I'm the only American and the teacher makes it quite obvious. I don't mind. The class looks super interesting! It's about how texts change when turned into movies, or taken from one culture and retold by another. I guess the earliest Cinderella story was Chinese. A bunch of the stories/movies we are using, I have already read or seen. The first is the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe, so that's cool! Also, the next 3 sessions are guest lectured by someone from Minnesota! That's interesting...

One thing to note is the class goes for 5 weeks and then has 5 weeks off. I'm a loner in the aspect that I don't want to be a teacher, but the rest of my class does so I'm singled out again. They have those 5 weeks off so they can get hands on experience teaching in another program I think. I'm not doing that, so I have to figure out what to do during then. I have an idea...

After class, I walked around that campus a bit more until the shuttle back left. That ride was about 45 minutes and I got to the city campus near the train and bus station. I got back and must've gotten a little lost trying to walk to the train station. So I walked around downtown for 20 minutes more than I had to I bet. Eventually I found after asking someone to point me the right way.

Got home finally at 5:05 and rested in my room until dinner. For dinner we had pizza. After dinner some people went to rent Kill Bill 2 and we watched that when they returned. Goooooood stuff. Then I realized I don't have to be up early. Another guy was gonna watch another movie so I joined and watched The Holiday. It was...pretty chick flicky. And now I am here with horrible internet.

*sigh*
