After I imagined strawbraries, I woke up. Another obscure joke!
Anyways, got up early after staying up too late. It was fine though, I wasn't a zombie. I got on the 8am shuttle to school after breakfast and packing a lunch. My class starts at 9 so I had a bit of a wait before anything happened. Then I went to class and found out it was canceled due to the teacher having food poisoning. That's a huge bummer. It's a weekly class and missing one is a pretty big deal. I wonder how we'll catch up. Hope he gets better soon...
It was a relief in the aspect that I didn't have to be in class dead tired though. I ended up going with a classmate that also lives in the house where I do, to the library. She showed me how to use the catalog system to find books and such. I went on the computer a little and enjoyed the WORKING internet. It's horrible right now. I don't mean in the aspect that I can't have fun online (I still can't) but even checking my email takes over 10 minutes to load. It's not cool. I hope it gets resolved...fast.
Then I read that girl's papers from before to compare. They do those weird too! Their bibliographies with the references at the end are split up by book, internet, etc. Crazy! She also broke up her paper a ton with headers underlined and bold to change the direction of the essay. I guess that's what you have to do. So strange! She even inserted a picture at one part...
After that I read ahead for the class I should have been in. Then me, her, and a Swiss girl took a bus to the mall and I got a water bottle and the most expensive cheeseburger I have ever gotten from McDonald's. $2! Just a cheeseburger! Nothing extra, nothing less. Insane!
After the mall, we took another bus back to the house. I was just about to take a nap when Cameron asked if I wanted to go with a few people that were gonna get piercings. I thought it might be fun to watch. Not sure what I was thinking, but whatever. Finally we left and found out the place was very seedy. No one got anything and we left about as soon as we got there. We made it back just in time for dinner. After dinner I watched some movie that I don't know the name of, but it was alright. Then my mom called me and we talked a bit. Then I watched some TV that had an Australian comedian. It had skits and guests...it was like a late night show + the Colbert Report mixed + SNL. Pretty good, but a lot of the political stuff was lost on me...
Now I'm here, about to sleep. Oh and two things!
-They don't have pennies. They round up or down and that's what you get back. I lost a cent today! It shows how much of a stickler Americans are for money. It was a weird feeling. But I do like how they include tax in the markup price. It said $2.99 and when I got it, it was $2.99. No funny business. So that makes their video games not as bad. It's still more expensive here though.
-I haven't had a cell phone. Some people would die. I am glad I'm not really dependent on it back home, so I don't notice other than my pockets can carry more. I do wish I had it for emergencies though, or for getting together with people to do things. But door knocks are just fine here. And calling home would be easier if my phone worked, albeit expensive. Just something to note!
