Slept in again, quick breakfast, then I went to the mall for a haircut. I knew I saw a place for an $18 haircut before, so I was looking for that place. But Ash told me about "Just Cuts" and I saw it on the info thing in the mall and found it, went there, saw $25 cuts and continued to look for the cheap place. I walked around the entire mall before I found it...then I had to wait for the 2nd hairstylist to get off his break I guess. So I waited a bit and then got it done. I didn't do anything crazy Aussie or whatever, but he did cut it differently. Like...quicker and more rough. Back home they are more slow and relaxed. I think it looks good and people at student housing like it too. Whew. I was so paranoid before...
I have been meaning to talk about this in past entries, but I always forgot. Here, they don't tip. Not at all. I learned that from Gary, the guy I had a smoothie with in Chinatown. Maybe I talked about it, but I can't remember. So I felt kinda awkward leaving the haircut place without giving a tip. Oh well.
Then I picked up a plastic film thing to protect the screen of my iPod. No scratches, yay. And it doesn't make it bulky like the other cases. It came with a film for the back to protect that, but the back is curved and has this black piece in the corner. The film is shaped to not cover that. But the shape of the film doesn't fit the shape of the iPod back. And the back is curved on the iPod, so it doesn't adhere very well on the curves. I gave up and it is unprotected now. Oh well, the screen is all the matters. I also got hair gel, in case. I don't think I brought any here. If I did, oops. Then I looked for 3x5 cards for my presentation. I couldn't find any like at home. I did get sticky notes that are the same size, but yellow, and sticky at the top. That'll work. Then I went back and worked again on my music library. So close to being done! But now my iPod is showing signs of trouble. I'm getting an update now that I hope fixes it. Otherwise I will bring it to the Apple store probably Friday. If all goes to plan, I should be finished with everything on Thursday.
After I got back, I biked with Alvin to the video store. We didn't end up renting anything, but the trip was fun! Down the hill the way there and up it on the way back. I used Ash's bike. People wear helmets here I guess. Weird...
I can't wait to get home and use my electric toothbrush! I almost forgot I had it. And the bristles should still be stiff since I haven't used it at home much since replacing the head. I couldn't use it here because of the power adapter not charging it.
Another thing I haven't mentioned is their public school system. They all have uniforms! It's opposite to back home. Private schools here don't have uniforms. It's very weird though, I usually only see girls. It's not that I don't notice the guys, I just don't see them. I pass at least one all girls school on the way to my own Uni. I actually think I might pass 2 or 3. I'm so glad I never had to wear a uniform...
I don't know if I mentioned that I had an Aussie kiwi last week or not, so I'm saying it again. Not much of a difference from the kiwis we get.
I finished reading from one book that I need to before the takehome exam, which I will do tomorrow when I wake up. I'll study tonight and before I take it tomorrow. I might go to a pub tomorrow also, which is basically a restaurant. Not a bar in the sense of what we think a pub is. Just a disclaimer. :P
Tick tock to the election and tick tock to my coming home! Wheeeeeeee...
