-Didn't have time to journal, but I can remember it well enough. The internet is still bad here. :(
We had to leave at "7am" on Thursday morning, so I woke up at 6:30 to eat and wash up before going. Everyone was ready but the shuttle driver was late. He had to go to the school and turn off an alarm that was accidentally set off. We left at 8:30. It was rough sitting and waiting in the cold, but I went inside for some of it and we finally set off for camp. I slept on the way mostly.
We got there and signed up for rooms, then sang some worship songs. After that we had afternoon tea. At this place, there was 6 scheduled times to eat. It was kinda crazy. We had a bunch of talks led by the speaker. At free time, I watched a huge game of Twister. They had painted their own gigantic board. It was pretty funny to watch, but after so many games I was bored. I wandered around a bit. Our first meal was lasagna, and that's my favorite meal ever. There were two kinds, vegetarian and normal. I was waiting for the normal. The girl serving the veggie one waved me over, to get the line moving, I think. I didn't know for sure if it was veggie or not, so I misjudged and went anyways, hoping that they'd be the same. They were not. I didn't finish it and it was pretty disgusting. =\
Other specific memories include: sleeping in a nice warm room after midnight. Finding out my facewash had emptied some in my toiletry bag and that was a bummer. Watching Alvin play ping pong, I played a little myself. Sitting around a huge fire/furnace thing before bed. Watching Ashley (it's a guy's name in Australia and he lives next door to me) burn himself while trying to burn newspaper by spraying it with a flammable liquid. Walking around and seeing sheep and hearing them BAAAAAH! (I don't think I have ever heard them before) and laughing when one would BAAAAH! while chewing on grass. It sounded like a person impersonating a sheep while swimming underwater. We also saw a couple horses and a few kangaroos! I saw them hopping even. Not really close up so I didn't get a picture, but I have a picture of them on my camera. I'll put it up tomorrow. Waking up and finding out there was no running water that worked. My hair was gross...but it made me appreciate having running water for sure! I watched a girl try Vegemite for the first time on toast. She hated it and it was funny to watch. It's pure yeast extract, a spread. Before we left, we heard the principal of the school's Donal Duck impersonation. It was 99% spot on and he told a story in the voice.
After that, we left on Friday at about 2pm. It was a couple hours to drive. I took a picture of something I have kept forgetting to mention in my blog. All their stoplights here look like iPhones. Black backgrounds and white outlines, with rounded edges. I will put up my pictures tomorrow. There are some of me at the camp place, with amazingly scenic backgrounds.
When we got home everyone jumped in the shower pretty much. After that we watched TV a little bit until dinner. We had rice and chicken. After that we watched the Olympic pre-show about China. Then people wanted to watch a movie, so we put in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. During the middle, two Bethel girls wanted to watch the Olympics, so we switched back for awhile, before resuming the movie. After that we watched Resident Evil, and it was hilarious seeing/hearing some girls freak out. After that we flipped back to the opening ceremonies and I nearly passed out before coming here, making my bed, and posting this blog while struggling with the internet.
My travel pass ran out today so I don't know what I'll do tomorrow. Maybe I'll stay in and read brochures about studying abroad, the 7th book of the Chronicles of Narnia, and do homework.
Now I'm gonna post another blog entry about how much of a loner I am here.
