I was going to get up early and catch a shuttle to be at school before class and read and get work done, but I realized I stayed up too late the night before and it wouldn't be productive, so I slept in a little bit more and caught 2 buses to school. I was still early enough to read The Silver Chair so that was good. But I forgot to pack a lunch! Eeep! I went on the computers and enjoyed reliable internet. It's not the best on those computers though, since they are from circa-1800 and websites don't run properly on them so I have to constantly get errors and click OK. Oh well. After that, I wandered around a bit and went to sit in the student centre. I randomly told a girl that I was in photography class and it started in 20 minutes (it was 12:40 at the time--I thought it started at 1 and had that written down) and she said...uh...I have a few friends in that class and they left 10 minutes ago. She apologized if she was wrong, but I left to check. I walked in 10 minutes late, but it's better than 30! So I missed the past two weeks of that class and the first ten minutes of the third. Oh well, it wasn't that embarrasing. I felt clueless and helpless for most of the class. We set up shots and took pix of food with a white backdrop, while playing with the lighting and shadows. It was good fun. One girl has no idea how to make food look good on a plate though...(we had junk to work with too, rice, olives, poppyseeds, a fork, and a plastic plate). Then we had a tiny break before going back and having a crash course in how a camera operates. It was interesting.
Then another break (I was starving by now) and I tried to get something from the vending machine but it wouldn't take my $5. Sad. Then we went to a computer lab and photoshopped our pictures to improve them. A girl showed me how to do it and she made it look awesome with a few tweaks. Then I felt bad if I would have just printed it out there in front of her, so I canceled all her tweaks and tried to recreate it.
I could not.
It wasn't worse than it started out, but it wasn't that much better either. The teacher said good start and it looked fine, so I didn't mess it up too bad. Now I need to get a notebook with no lines to put my pix in. He said we'll figure out what to do about the past photos.
After that, I finished my book before going to the library, getting change for my $5 from a Swiss girl, and getting a Twix for $2.20. Ridiculous, but I was starving! Then I caught the shuttle back to the house at 5.
Dinner, then I watched an Australian comedian do stand up (his name is Carl Barron) with Vanilla, to whom this blog is dedicated to. You might ask why, and I wouldn't tell you she asked me to.
After that I did laundry and right now I'm learning the hard way to not overload the dryer. It won't dry very well. So I guess I'll stay up a bit more.
Tomorrow I have a morning class done at noon, and a ride set up to take me home right after! Rockin. I think I will go nuts with the camera and try a video tour of where I live, and take pictures of everyone and everything, for myself and others to better get a grasp of the place. I hope they don't think I'm creepy.
Cheers!
Also, if anyone reading this decides to mail me some nuts to eat, I will say, "This person is sending me nuts." and the Australians here will think, "This person is driving him nuts." because that's just how they are...honestly.
Remember, this blog is in honor of Vanilla.
