So I stayed up til about 4 last night filling in the note sheets for the exam today. Blah. At least I slept until almost noon, but I was still dead tired. I went to Burwood by bus #458. At Burwood, no buses came! I even saw the NEXT #458 bus go by. -_- What a waste of a half hour. I could've slept in more! Oh well, finally one came and I rode to school. I got there with about 10 minutes to spare. I needed to talk to Lorna to set up a ride to the airport on the 15th and ask about a ride to the dance. I took care of that and then went on to my exam...dun dun dun!
It went better than I thought. I dreaded it, but it was easier than I imagined. The sheet I filled out helped some, but not as much as I would have liked. She even gave us hints for what to study. Didn't really help...and I heard one girl took the entire 3 hours. I only took 1 and a half hours to do it. Whoohoo! And I kinda gave her a piece of my mind in the teacher evaluation. I filled out a lot...I wasn't "too mean" I hope. I was less worried about getting to the dance since I had time to go back now! I also went to the graphic design room and grabbed my photography project (and vivian's) from her cubbyhole, and took them back.
I went to the bus stop but saw the bus stopped. I started running. It pulled away. I thought I would continue to run and get it at the next bus stop but it kept going...so I was a little bummed. But it worked out for the best (again) because a few minutes later, Angela came up to me and told me Donn had the Tarago minivan parked and could take me home! Rockin'. So I just went with them, Angela, Donn, and Stephen. It was MUCH faster than public transport would have been (about 2x as fast).
Got home, showered again, got all ready and stuff, and finally we left. Doug drove the big bus/van which was nice. We were all stressing over how to get there. I wore normal light brown cargo pants, a white t-shirt, Cameron's green polo shirt, and my black sweater over that. And Ish's nice shoes with 3 pairs of socks so they would fit. I felt pretty underdressed. Most guys had jackets or ties. Oh well.
The dance was more or less a metaphor for my entire stay in Australia, although with a slant towards the worst. Because I have made few friends (but great friendships in them) and not gotten to know a lot of people, I was rather pathetic looking at the dance. First, I didn't know which table to go with. I wanted to go with Cameron, but he went ahead and got with the ASC girls I think. Not sure. Then Ish stepped up and got a table with the graphic design people. The girl asked what table I wanted, and I was like...uh...then she asked if I wanted to go with Ish. Sure, why not? Someone to talk to. So then I bummed around a little and saw some people from classes, a few pictures with their cameras (I only took a few with mine of the crowd dancing), and then we went to sit down. I guess someone took our seats. So we went out and got a new table, with music students (mew-zoze/musos) which was...ok. I didn't know any. I'd talked to one briefly before.
The salad I got was squid. Yummy! I liked it, Ish...not so much. Dinner for me was beef. It was awesome! Dessert...not so much. But I'm to blame. They had 2 salads, 2 dinners, and 2 desserts all handed out at random. Not sure what the other salad was exactly. The other dinner was chicken with marinara sauce. The desserts were some chocolate cream puff thing and some fruit pie. I was originally handed a chocolate thing. It looked good. I asked the girl next to me if anything was in it as filling. I guess there was. I looked at what Ish got, and it was a fruit thing. He was gone from the table at the moment. It looked to me like it was cheesecake, and it had strawberries and kiwi on top. I switched ours. Shhhhhh.
Too bad it wasn't cheesecake.
It was like sweetened meringue. Yuck. Oh well. I ate it all. It was just sweetend fluff and fruit. I talked a bit with the girl next to me. Her nickname is Chill...her real name is Chilo. From the Phillipines, but lives here and goes home every 3 years. She loves America more than Australia, haha. I barely danced. Only a little bit when I went on the floor to get in the circle to watch people do crazy things in the middle. But I could barely see. And at the last song of the night when I was pulled on to do the YMCA train. Other than that, I probably looked pretty lame just sitting there most of the night. I have a new story to write though. A Socially Inept's Guide to Not Dancing. The sequel to my last awesome story, A Cynic's Guide to Mortality. Speaking of which, I need to email that to Bethel for the creative writing thing. By their Friday. I'll just wake up and do that.
During the dance I got up and left twice to walk around the block at night. Kinda spooky just after halloween and in the dark and alone, but it was nice to get away from the commotion and be with myself. I had an awkward moment with a girl from my photography class. We weren't close at all but she came up to me and was like, "bye zack" (our last time seeing each other) and then she went to hug I think, but I have no idea. She...missed...or something. She brushed my arm. I was confused. Then I was the decisive man and went for a real hug since I didn't know what to do or say. Then after that it was an awkward pause for both of us. Then I broke the silence. Probably a mistake. I said "I'll miss you." But then I realized that's a lie. Then I said, "Maybe." Whoops. She said, "Oh gee, thanks Zack." but it wasn't in a super cruel way so I didn't feel too bad about it. She started with awkward, she got what was coming. Maybe. I don't know. I don't think she'll be too crushed since we barely knew each other. Me and my big mouth. I doubt I'll ever see her again though, even though she's an American.
Finally we left after the YMCA and got home at about midnight. I gave people their clothes back, talked a bit with Vivian after I gave her her stuff that I grabbed today, and went upstairs to watch the Anderson Cooper podcast and type this blog. The podcast was about Obama's win and I almost got emotional seeing the other countries from around the world cheering for him during the election, and everyone in America going wild with tears and happiness. I hope everyone can put aside their differences and realize what a gigantic step forward America has just done. I'm dead tired even though I only danced for about 10 minutes all together. Crazy. I'm also trying so hard to get my video game fix in. I hope my laptop can run Guild Wars!
Tomorrow I have...NOTHING on the schedule! Awesome. Although 7pm at THE ROCKS AKA MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD (maybe I can do a video this time!) there will be live music! I think I MUST GO!
Hmm...now I might look into flying to Melbourne for a couple days. I have nothing else to do! And a friend to see! Exciting. I'll find out by the end of the weekend...
There is a cricket game on the 14th to go to, but everyone but me opted out so far. I can find replacements, but I think that will be tough. Guess I won't go...oh well, I heard it's rather boring to watch.
