Every Day is a New Adventure

Today I thought I would sleep in, but that wasn't the case. I had a tour of the UTS campus to get to by 11 and that was it. I set my alarm for 9:45 but ended up waking up before 7:30. Oh well. That has happened a lot to me these past few days. I will get up with less than 10 minutes before my alarm should go off. But this day was more like 2 hours.

I convinced Alvin, the guy from Singapore to go with and see UTS too. I was a little worried they wouldn't let him be there since he's not a student, but I thought it would be kinda silly to ban someone from something like a tour just for that. So we took a train and walked and got there just on time. Here is a picture of the "tower campus" (where the tour was, not my class):

He had fun pretending to be a Uni student, that's for sure. He asked the most questions about the school during the tour. He grabbed a bunch of pamphlets for free about everything. He lagged behind the most looking around and it was pretty funny. The campus is gigantic. So many buildings. We crossed streets in the tour. Book stores, coffee shops, cafes, computer labs, it's crazy. A library where I can get access to international newspapers and more. Computer labs open 24/7 even. A gym I can use if I pay some amount. It rained a little too, good thing we had hoods.

We stopped at the Co-Op bookstore for him to pick up a book after. The tour ended there, so that was convenient. We had to go back to the campus to find the IT place so I could reset my password since I forgot it. We rewalked the tour to find it, ended up getting mixed up and we found a new way there. After the that, we went and ate Chinese. He ordered for me and it was amazing. I learned you can't tell an Asian from Hong Kong from an Asian from Singapore just by looks. Only when they speak, like Australians to Americans. Interesting.

We went shopping on the way home and I got a better laptop bag/over the shoulder bag that I'll use for school. I will probably use it at home too, since my backpack is getting a hole in the bottom. We got free ones from Wesley, but they are very cheap. I also bought a mug for rinsing my mouth out after I brush my teeth. It's interesting to note that they (well, the store I got the mug from and I'm not sure if all stores do it, but maybe) include their tax in the pricetag. So you pay what it says and the reciept tells you what it really costs and also the tax. It adds up to the sticker price. I wish we did that at home...

After shopping, we looked for a transformer (electrical voltages don't mix and match well for my toothbrush) and had no luck. So glad I brought my old fashioned one.

Then we went home and had dinner and not much happened later on. Tomorrow I have class at 2pm so I won't take the morning shuttle. I'll go public transit. I know a longer way to get there so I should be fine. I might try to go the shorter route. I hope I make it. I'll leave way early to be sure. Cheers. (they say that a lot here, or at least Alvin does...)
